What is Dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty primarily affecting reading, writing, and spelling skills, though it can impact other areas of learning. It's a neurobiological difference that impacts how the brain processes language, making it challenging for individuals to learn to read and write effectively. While dyslexia can make learning difficult, it does not affect intelligence.
The Dyslexic Superpower
Dyslexic individuals often excel in areas that require creativity, visual-spatial reasoning, and problem-solving. They may have a knack for seeing the bigger picture, thinking in three dimensions, and developing innovative solutions. Increasingly, universities and big businesses are seeing the value of neurodiverse (including dyslexic) thinkers.
How long does an assessment take?
The assessment itself will take around 3 hours to complete, but it can take longer with older children.
Before the assessment, you and your child's school will be asked to complete a background information form.
After the assessment
Following the assessment a report will be produced and this takes up to three weeks although usually less than this. This will be emailed directly to the person who has funded the assessment. It is a detailed document, and it will provide a diagnosis if appropriate and will signpost to other areas of investigation if dyslexia is not found to be present. Recommendations for adjustments and support will be made in context of study, workplace, or daily life.
How much does an assessment cost?
The fee for a full diagnostic assessment is £500. On booking an assessment you will receive an invoice. Our preferred payment method is bank transfer. A deposit of £100 is payable within seven days to secure the booking. The balance is payable on or before the day of the assessment.
